Come for one of our many workshops! See schedule here.

The Ruritan Club will be making Apple Butter and Brunswick Stew over a slow fire to be ready in the early afternoon. But hurry! They sell out fast! Other special features include:

  • Local musicians performing all day.
  • A hayride over the ridge above the orchard.
  • Dozens of craft and artisanal food vendors.
  • Prepared foods from local vendors.
  • An Apple Pie Contest sponsored by In The Kitchen.
    Entries must be made by 11:30am the day of the festival. Click here for more details.
  • Fresh cider by the cup, half gallon or gallon.
  • Hot cider by the cup.
  • Hard cider available in our tasting room.

Apple Pie Contest

A Few Simple Rules:

  • Present only one freshly baked, homemade, apple pie by 11:30 am on Saturday, November 3, 2012.
  • Bring your pie, with a card containing your name, address and phone number, and the names of the apples used.  Recipes are optional.
  • Pies will become the property of the Cove Garden Ruritan Club. 
  • Slices from the pies will be offered for sale at $2 per slice, for their benefit, once the judging has concluded.
  • Pies will be judged on appearance, taste, and texture.

Prize: The winner will receive a $100 gift certificate to Vintage Virginia Apples and Albemarle CiderWorks.
